


Prof. Ala Sharara is Professor of Medicine at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and former Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology (2002–2017). He is also a Consulting Professor at Duke University, USA. Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, he is a fellow of the ACG, AGA, and the Royal College of Physicians (London).
Prof. Sharara has authored over 160 peer-reviewed publications and serves on editorial boards of major GI journals. He coordinates the IBD Interest Group of the Lebanese Society of Gastroenterology and is a member of several global GI societies. A frequent speaker at international conferences, his research focuses on H. pylori, IBD, viral hepatitis, GERD, colonoscopy quality, and CRC screening

Dr. Maan Alkhattabi is an Assistant Professor at King Abdulaziz University, Rabigh Campus, and a Consultant in Gastroenterology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at Alsalama Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With a strong academic and clinical background,
Dr. Maan Alkhattabi is dedicated to advancing the understanding and management of IBD. He actively engages in medical education, training future healthcare professionals while providing specialized care to patients with gastrointestinal disorders.
Dr. Maan Alkhattabi is involved in both local and regional GI initiatives and has participated in various scientific forums. His commitment to evidence-based practice and academic excellence has positioned him as a respected figure in the field of gastroenterology and a key contributor to IBD care in the region.


Dr. Heba AlFarhan, is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, specializing in Advanced Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), at Thunayan Al Ghanim Gastroenterology Center, Al Amiri Hospital in Kuwait. She is President of the Kuwaiti Gastroenterology Association and Executive Board Member and Vice Chair of the Communication Committee at the International Bowel Ultrasound Group (IBUS).
Dr. Al Farhan completed her IBD fellowship at the University of Calgary, Canada, with advanced training in bowel ultrasound. She holds board certifications from KIMS (Kuwait), the Saudi Board, and MRCP-UK. An accredited trainer in bowel ultrasound, she has multiple international publications emphasizing the role of point-of-care ultrasound in IBD management, contributing significantly to advancing diagnostic tools in gastroenterology.







Dr. Thamer A. Bin Traiki is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Head of the General Surgery Division at King Saud University Medical City, Riyadh. He is a Consultant in Colorectal and Surgical Oncology and founder of the HIPEC Center at KSUMC, a referral hub for peritoneal malignancy. Dr. Thamer A. Bin Traiki holds the Saudi Fellowship in General Surgery and the Australian Fellowship in Colorectal and Oncologic Surgery from the University of New South Wales.
His expertise spans general and complex surgery, including hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, pelvic floor reconstruction, and advanced anorectal procedures. He is highly skilled in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) colorectal surgery for Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and cancer, as well as surgery for advanced abdominal tumors.

Dr. Bashaar Al Ibrahim, MBBS, FRCPC, ABIM is a Consultant Gastroenterologist specializing in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh.
He earned his MBBS from King Saud University (2007) and completed his Saudi Board of Internal Medicine at King Faisal Specialist Hospital (2014). Dr. Al Ibrahim trained extensively in Canada, completing fellowships in Gastroenterology and IBD at McMaster University and the University of Western Ontario, as well as IBD Ultrasound fellowship (2019). He holds Canadian and American Board certifications in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
An active researcher and award-winning presenter, he has authored multiple publications in highimpact journals. Dr. Al Ibrahim is a member of several international gastroenterology associations and advisory boards, contributing significantly to IBD research and clinical practice.
